Katie A. v. Bonta

The plaintiffs filed a class action suit on July 18, 2002 alleging violations of federal Medicaid laws, the American with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and California Government Code Section 11135.  The suit sought to improve the mental health and supportive service for children and youth in foster care in California or at imminent risk of placement in foster care.

In September 2011, Federal Court US Central Court Judge A. Howard Matz provided plaintiffs and defendants with authority to proceed in their efforts to develop a Katie A. Implementation Plan under the of a preliminary settlement agreement.

This webpage will be frequently updated with news and resources about the proposed forthcoming Katie A Implementation Plan.  Please send your questions and comments to KatieA@dmh.ca.gov.  Thank you.
