Napa State Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited facility that encompasses over 440 acres of land which provides a multidimensional array of mental health services under the direction of the Department of Mental Health as specified in the Welfare and Institution Code of the State of California. The Hospital has been in existence since 1875 and is one of the largest mental health facilities in the United States with a licensed capacity of 1362 beds and a dedicated staff of over 2300. The Hospital's mission is to assist each Individual to achieve personal recovery. Our goal is to increase Individual's capability for independence and for safe and effective community treatment placement.
At Napa State Hospital we foster, promote and practice the Recovery Model of mental health treatment services via the application of the Individual centered Wellness and Recovery Plan. The staff are dedicated and committed to delivering high quality, cost effective, professional services and special programs in an environment which promotes continuous improvement in treatment for individuals with mental disabilities. These services and programs are provided for all individuals in accordance with their needs and with acknowledgment and respect of cultural diversity, including race, creed, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, and financial status.
Our major focus is to establish and promote collaborative partnerships between individuals served, staff, families and advocates in order to maintain an environment where services, treatment and rehabilitation are provided with dignity and respect to all. The Hospital recognizes and encourages full participation from individuals served and their family members. Napa State Hospital also recognizes the need for the training of staff, ongoing research, and the importance of family education.
The Hospital cannot achieve its mission, vision, or values and our associated goals and objectives without the help from all stakeholders. We encourage staff at all levels of the Hospital, Individuals served, families, friends and other interested parties to become engaged and involved in the provision of care and treatment services at Napa State Hospital and ask questions regarding the various aspects of the Hospital and its operations. We welcome all stakeholders to become constructively involved in suggesting ideas, identifying problems and participating in continuous process improvement activities in order to improve the operational effectiveness and efficiencies of Napa State Hospital.
